چکیده
,s.BsTRAcT, The prevalence of CtJ.aietla hurnetii infection in 207 cattle with repreductive disorders was studied by using an indireet immunofiuorescence <IF) tcst, nested polymerase chain reaction {PCR) and isolatien, IF antibodies te phase I and phase II antigens ef C, httrnetii were found in l22 (58.9%) and I25 <60.4%) of the sefa. respeclivcly, and PCR-positives svere found in 8 (3.9%) of thc sera and in 51 {24.6%} of the milk samples. In additiofi, C. hurnetii was lsolated from Si <24.69b) of the rni[k sampLes by inoculating IaboratoTy mice. The resv]ls indicate that the [F test plus PCR are usef"I in thc diagnosis of bovine eexiellosis. It is difflcult to cleny that dairy cattle with Teproductive disorders weuld be one of the irnportant rcscrveirs of C. httrnetii responsibte for infection in both animal and huTnan

Prevalence of Coxiella burnetii in Bulk Tank Milk Samples from Dairy Cattle in West and Northwest of Iran
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: Q fever is a zoonotic disease caused by an obligate gram-negative intracellular pathogen called Coxiella burnetii. The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of anti-C. burnetii antibodies in bulk tank milk (BTM) samples of dairy cattle in west and northwest of Iran. Me...

متن کاملNo indication of Coxiella burnetii infection in Norwegian farmed ruminants
BACKGROUND Infection with Coxiella burnetii, the cause of Q-fever, has never been detected in Norwegian animals. Recognising the increasing prevalence of the infection in neighbouring countries, the aim of the study was to perform a survey of Norwegian farmed ruminants for the prevalence of C. burnetii infection. RESULTS Milk and blood samples from more than 3450 Norwegian dairy cattle herds,...
متن کاملIdentification of Coxiella burnetii by touch-down PCR assay in unpasteurized milk and dairy products in North - East of Iran
Coxiella burnetii is the causative agent of the zoonotic disease Q fever, and ruminants being considered as the main source for human infection. Although the main route of infection in human is inhalation of contaminated aerosols, oral transmission by contaminated raw milk or unpasteurized dairy products is also a possible route of infection. Raw milk or dairy products produced from unpasteuriz...

We report results on the seroprevalence of antibodies to Coxiella burnetii in cattle and healthy people in Korea. Upon agreement with dairy owners, serum samples from 414 dairy cattle were collected between March and June 2001 and samples from 205 people for health screening were collected between April and December 2002. The sera were analyzed for the presence of anti-C. burnetii phase II anti...
